5 Rainy Day Activities Anyone Can Do

Monday, April 9, 2018

Ah, tis the season for rain rain rain every day all day, even on the weekends.  The ground is saturated so you can't even step in the grass without tracking mud everywhere and after a few days of nonstop rain you start to feel stir crazy, right? You start to feel restless because you're trapped inside and you don't want to leave the house and get your hair wet and have to put actual pants on.

Rainy days can really stink but while you're trapped inside there are several things that you CAN do.

(1) Organize & Clean Nooks & Crannies
You know all those random tasks and areas of your home that you always put off dealing with, but you are constantly reminded of them? Well, now is the time to do it.  Organize the junk drawer, clean out the oven and fridge, wipe down the baseboards,  dust the ceiling fans, and put your closet in order.

Sit down and make a detailed to do list of all of the things you need to do.  Sometimes it helps to walk around your house as you make the list so you can notice other things like fixing a broken picture frame or organizing a linen closet.  By the end of the day you'll feel very accomplished.

(2) Rearrange Your Home
Sometimes we aren't happy with the layout of a room that we so often use but we never take the time to change it.  Well, now's that time and you can start by doin a quick sketch of how you want the room (or closet space) rearranged.  Then get to work moving things, vacuuming behind any furniture you moved, and stepping back to see how it all looks.  People always say "I've been wanting to change the layout of my bedroom" but they keep putting it off.  Now there are no more excuses!

(3) Meal Plan with Excess Food
Go through your pantries and fridge and you'll likely discover food items that you forgot about.  Line everything up and then sit down and plan out a few meals with those ingredients. This saves you a trip to the grocery store but it also helps you buy LESS stuff because you already will have some meals fulfilled.  This is also a great time to clean out your fridge and pantries and look for any expired items.

A tidy kitchen makes for a less stressful evening when you have to prepare meals, trust me.

(4) Put Outfits Together
You know how you sometimes feel like your wardrobe is stale and you don't necessarily have the time to put creative outfits together when you're running out the door? Well, now you have plenty of time.  Make it a goal to put together 2 weeks worth of outfits. Lay them out on your bed to see how everything looks. Don't forget to add scarves and jewelry complete each look. When you're all done, group the items together with hangers so you know what to wear each day of the upcoming weeks.  This also will keep this outfit ideas in your head so that you wear them in the future.   An easy wardrobe refresh without spending ANY money!

(5) At Home Spa Day
Take a nice warm bath, give yourself a mani/pedi, use face masks, take a long nap, get your eye brows on point, and look up at home hair masks.  Take advantage of being trapped inside the house by really pampering yourself.  Again, a great way to NOT spend money.

What activities can you put on YOUR rainy day list?
