When you hit your thirties, life can change and become more demanding in ways you might not always have expected. Your career might ramp up, you might be getting married or starting a family or taking care of elderly parents or grandparents. Your health can change, all sorts of things happen around this time (for some of us, all of the above!) When responsibilities grow its natural to have less time and energy to put into yourself, but if you catch your reflection, and feel like you don’t quite recognise the person staring back then the loss of confidence can definitely come. This can then affect how you feel about everything from your work to your social lifem and your mental health., Here are some simple ways to invest back into yourself if you’re wanting to feel more like you again.Have your hair done
Your hair is your crowning glory, for many of us women it makes up a huge part of our identity. If you’ve fallen into the habit of throwing it up in the same style every day, a change can be more powerful than you expect. As a busy woman with a full schedule, chances are you’ll have yours scraped back into a practical style most days, but it’s good to be able to style it to look nice when you want to feel good. If it’s been a long time since you visited the salon, book yourself in. Have them give you a cut and colour, even if it’s not drastic it will freshen everything up and you’ll feel much better about yourself. Even a subtle change like face framing layers or a gloss treatment can make your hair look healthier and more put together with very little day to day effort.
Shop for new outfits
When you’re in your thirties it’s so easy to default to the same safe outfits that feel practical and are what you’re used to, but don’t really make you feel confident. Buying clothes for yourself is probably one of those things that slips down the priority list, but when was the last time you bought something yourself? A new outfit that you can wear to meet your friends or go out for dinner can be just what you need to give you a boost of self esteem. You don’t need to overhaul your entire wardrobe either, even one well fitting jacket, pair of jeans or dress that you feel great in can change how you feel when you get ready!
Look into treatments
There are lots of safe procedures you can have done these days if you have a hangup about your face, they’re not too expensive and don’t have a lot of recovery time either. You have everything from non surgical nose jobs to wrinkle treatments like microdermabrasion, there are plenty of subtle options that are about refreshing rather than changing how you look. Fillers and lip injections can get a bad rap as we’ve all seen how they look when yhey’re done badly. But if you choose a good practitioner then it wont be a huge, obvious change. You’ll just have the same youthful glow that you had five years ago again. The key is choosing something for yourself, not because of pressure to look a certain way, but because it will help you feel more confident when you look in the mirror.
Have your smile improvedYour teeth are one of the first things people notice when you talk or smile, and in your thirties things like staining from coffee, tea and wine can start to show more. We all know it’s important to see an emergency dentist for pain as well as go for regular checkups. But look into cosmetic dentistry too, in fact it might be something your regular dentist offers. Treatments like teeth whitening, invisalign and bonding can all make a dramatic difference and it saves you from feeling self conscvioius.
