Grandparent's Day is September 13th this year and I figured it would be nice to do a post on why grandparents are so important. If you are lucky enough to still have at least one grandparent alive, make sure you do something nice for them to celebrate this magical cute little holiday. So anyways...here's why grandparents are THE BEST!
They've known you your entire life.
I mean obviously, they were in your life since the day you were born so they basically have observed everything you did even as a baby...stuff that you probably don't remember. If you are lucky enough to have your grandparents still, ask them for some of their favorite memories that you don't remember and write them down. You'll cherish them someday!
They have absolutely spoiled you.
It just comes with the territory. Grandparents always spoil their grandkids. They sneak you snacks when they babysat you, they cuddled you extra, and they always got you awesome gifts for every occasion. Your grandparents LOVE YOU!
They have TONS of life experience.
Sit down sometime and ask them for their general life advice. Remember, they've literally walked on this earth longer than you OR your parents so their experience is how they've learned things.
They've lived through major change.
Ask them how they've seen the world change and how it's affected them. Remember they probably grew up as kids without the technology most of us have had. It's interesting to hear their experiences.
They know your family history.
If you don't know your family tree, now is the time to get that information. Get every bit of info you can about your extended family and your ancestors. This information is invaluable and if you don't get it while you have the chance, it's going to be a lot harder to put together someday.
So to celebrate your grandparents, consider sending them flowers, delivering a home cooked meal, or just spending time with them because they will ALWAYS say that that is the best gift.
What makes your grandparents special?
