How To Organically Grow Your Instagram

Instagram is such a big deal anymore and I've noticed brands can be more interested in social media shares than blog posts these days but I've had a lot of fellow bloggers ask me how I work on growing my Instagram.  I'm not going to lie, it's a lot of work but I'm more than happy to share the things I've been doing in the hopes they'll help others!

Post Consistently
It's important to post everyday.  You don't have to do it at the same time each day, but it's a good idea to check your insights and see when you get the most traffic.  I do one post a day and sometimes 2.

Take Great Photos
Not only do you need to take high quality and bright photos where everything is easy to see but you should make sure you edit them if they're too dark and you need to lighten them, or sharpen the photo a bit.  Taking a messy looking photo of a vase on a cluttered table in a dark corner of your home is not going to attract a lot of attention, so make sure you use good lighting and make it clean and clear. It's also a good idea to look into presets and how to use those.  They can make your entire Instagram feed aesthetically pleasing.

Use Hashtags
There's all kinds of advice out there and which hashtags to use and you want to use ones that aren't too generic but aren't too specific either.  I usually look at what other people use for their similar posts and I keep a list so I can add those to my own posts.  Also, if you want to be noticed, consider hashtagging things like the name of the city you're in, the type of content or products you offer, and hashtags that offer a solution like "#organizinghacks".

Engage with Followers
You need to make time every day to respond and like the comments people leave you and don't just try to respond "thanks" to every single one.  Adding an extra sentence or two to continue engaging them is important because they're more likely to engage with more of your content and higher engagements means your content is more visible across the entire Instagram platform.

Engage with the People You Follow
Take time to scroll your Instagram feed and like and comment on the photos of people you follow.  Leave engaging comments that require them to respond and can actually help you get noticed and followed back by them.  Also, their followers may see your comment and decide to pop over to your page and check you out.

Engage with New People
I search hashtags every day to find new content and new accounts to follow and engage with.  It's a great idea to do this because it helps people find you and follow you and it's just one big circle of growth.

You definitely need to put the work in everyday to grow your brand on social media so don't give up.  Keep putting in the effort because I promise you it's worth it!
