How I Maintain Daily Runs with A Limited Hairwash Schedule

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

I hate washing my hair everyday and I try to wash it no more than 3 times a week if that.   So, now that I've started running almost everyday it's important that I find a way to maintain a minimal hair wash routine along with my fitness routine.

So here's what I do.

Dry Shampoo// A Girl's Best Friend
I don't know what I'd do without dry shampoo!   I put some in before I go on a run so that it helps soak up the oil right away, and then after a run I let my hair down, and split my hair into sections (Just like with extensions) and spray each section with dry shampoo.  I rub it in with my finger tips and VOILA!   It really does make my hair smell amazing and it honestly feels like it was just washed because my scalp isn't greasy at all.

Shower Cap// My Other Bestie
I still wash my body everyday so it's imperative that I wear a shower cap to cover my hair on the days I don't want to wash it.

Head Wraps// You'd Never Know
Some days I still don't know how to style my unwashed hair and I worry that my greasy roots may come out.  This is where a headwrap comes into play.  No one knows what's underneath!

No Ponytails!// Except When Running
I don't wear my hair in a ponytail unless I'm running because if I do I'll get a crease and then I'll be tempted to brush my hair.  I try to brush only every other day because I don't like spreading the oil throughout my hair and I hate when I brush my hair and it gets wavy.   I just leave it be!

What do you do to get the most from your fitness schedule AND your hair routine?

  1. I absolutely swear by dry shampoo! I have a lot of hair so I only wash it twice a week, then for the rest of the time I use girlz only dry shampoo. I love the smell of it and it really helps to degrease my hair. lol.
