Time Saving Hacks I Use Everyday

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Everyone asks me how I deal with chaos and all the things I have going on in my life and still stay sane, have a neat and tidy home, and never forget an important thing…EVER. Well, the answer is that I’m extremely efficient with my time. So I’m going to share with you some time saving hacks I use everyday. They’re a lot more simple than you think, too!

Cleaning As I Go in the Kitchen

When I cook, I use every little extra moment possible to clean up after myself. Think about it…when you prepare food you always have a few minutes to wait for the water to come to a boil, wait for the microwave to ding, or for the oven timer to go off. In those times, as tempting as it may be to get distracted with social media, be smart and do what I do. I immediately start washing dishes, putting things away, and wiping down counters. It seriously has cut back so much on the time and energy it takes to create a meal. There’s really no clean up afterwards except putting our plates in the dishwasher.

Prepare the Night Before

I set my outfits for the week out on Sunday night. I arrange them in my closet so I just grab them in the morning and put them on. I don’t have to think what I’m going to wear and find what I want. I also set out everything I need to bring to work the next day on the counter by my purse so there’s no way I’ll forget to bring it.

Multitask

After I shower, I wait 15 minutes before drying my hair. In that 15 minutes, I take care of all the little tedious tasks around the house like tending to the dogs, tidying up counters, and going through the day’s mail. Anytime I have an extra few minutes I’m waiting for something else, I start being productive. This gives me more free time since I fit all the tedious small tasks together.

Stick to a Routine

A routine helps keep your life in order so you don’t easily forget to do things. When I wake up in the morning, I do the same thing. First, I head to the bathroom, then feed the dogs, then start my coffee, then feed the rats, clean up the pee pads in the dog room, and grab my coffee and go check my emails. I do all this within the same amount of time each day and I always start getting ready for work (getting dressed, makeup, etc.) at the same time. Running on a time schedule I’ve established for myself enables me to always be on time. I’m never late anywhere because I always account for when I have to leave and adjust my timeline accordingly.

Take Advantage of Extra Time

If I have a doctor’s appointment and I get home earlier than any normal workday, I ask myself what tasks I can do that will free up time later in the week or even over the weekend. If there’s an errand I can run on the way home that will save me the trip into a crowded store on a weekend, I’m all about that life. Because of operating like this, I get all my stuff done during the week and my weekends are totally free for fun or any tasks around the house!

Have you used any of these tips in your own life?
