Hobbies are fun but they can be so expensive. And hobbies are supposed to be something you enjoy. So when you start to stress about a hobby's effects on your budget, where's the enjoyment? Here's how to save money on your hobbies. Yard Sales
Yard sales are always an ideal place to find things for next to nothing. You can find supplies and other items to use for your hobby no matter what it is.
Thrift Stores
These are the same as yard sales. The markdowns are always ideal and I swear thrift stores are way hobby items go to...wait for their next home. WINK WINK
Swaps
Join groups in your area online for the type of hobby you are into. You can often find swaps where you can trade off supplies for new supplies and often times people are selling some of their equipment, especially with a hobby like photography.
Gift Ideas
When you are asked what you want for your birthday or Christmas, now is the time to list the items you need for your hobby or gift cards for the stores you shop at.
Get Creative
If you are into things like crafting it can be really fun to get creative and get supplies for free simply by using something in your home and repurposing it for that. I often use empty pasta sauce jars to store paint brushes and I get a lot of my scrap paper and fabric from things I'm preparing to throw out.
Remember - a hobby shouldn't put you into financial hardship so be smart and creative with how you afford it.
