My DIY Manicure - Save Money & Time!

Monday, January 13, 2014

I used to get a professional manicure twice a month.  I say USED to because it didn't take me long to realize that not only was it time consuming, but it was quite costly, and if I just bought the items I needed myself I could do it on my own. So I did...AND I put together a tutorial for you!

You'll Need:
Polish
Towel
Bowl of warm water
Nail Files
Cuticle Scissors
Nail clippers
Cuticle Pushers

Step 1: Prep your nails
Remove all nail polish and wash your hands and fingers.

Step 2: Soften your fingernails

Soak your fingers in the warm water for 2 minutes so they are easy to work with.

Step 3: Cut, file, and push

File your nails so they are squared off.  Use the cuticle scissors to cut any rough edges around your nails.  Scoop and dig all the dirt and gunk out from underneath them.

Step 4: Pamper and Paint

I used a lotion mask on my hands, but you can just rub regular lotion into them.  I do this while I wait for the polish to dry.

Step 5: Decorate

I painted mine with 2 coats of paint, a nail sticker on each nail, and then a top coat!

Repeat on the other hand!

PS... the manicure tools I got were $5 from Walmart in a kit!
